The Plasma Acoustic Shield System (PASS) not only incorporates both the eye-safe green dazzler and the Long Range Acoustic Hailing Device (LRAHD) but Stellar Photonics’ proprietary Dynamic Pulse Detonation (DPD) process as well.  Dynamic Pulse Detonation (DPD) is the next generation in dynamic plasma generation for directed energy applications and effects.  The system works by producing non-lethal plasmas in front of a target.  The plasma is generated by a laser superheating the air in front of a target causing rapid expansion, producing a bright flash of light and a loud bang.  The effect is much like that of an Mk 141 stun grenade, but with highly agile speed-of-light delivery and exceptional accuracy and adjustability.  The PASS concept takes the DPD effects a step further.  

 

Much like that of a Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT) monitor or television set.  Rather than moving an electron beam back and forth across the back of the monitor and lighting up phosphorous dots along the way to generate visible color, DPD plasmas potentially can be scanned using a Dynamic Focused Scanning System (DFSS) and result in a plasma shield, which when scaled, should be able to be used for check points, embassy protection, riots and as well as in absorbing other directed energies such as laser beams and microwaves, making it a directed energy shield as well.
